First Week
• Start with your clothes on. Take at least a half an hour when you won't be disturbed. Sit in a big easy chair, lie on the bed, or spread a mat on the floor. Settle in and turn on some music. Allow your hands to roam around your body, but avoid the genitals. Go gently at first, then with a firmer touch. Alternate the way that you stimulate yourself—make the touch light and teasing, then rough and insistent. Do the same movement over and over; then try varying the movements. Which pattern do you like better?
• Direct your mind to the area of the body you're touching. Really focus on the sensations and feelings this brings up in you. What kinds of fantasies does it inspire? What types of memories or expectations do you have?
• If you are very aroused, stop the touch for a moment. Breathe deeply and allow your body to come back to "neutral." See if you can continue the fantasy without the touch. When the feeling of imminent climax passes, start up again, this time on a different part of the body.
• Practice this daily without bringing yourself to orgasm. Keep a diary of the fantasies and see which ones are your favorites. Which ones might you like to share with your partner?
